Job Summary
PreAdmission Nurse role focusing on educating and reassuring patients before surgery. Responsibilities include calling patients to obtain health histories and provide pre-operative instructions; answering questions from patients, families, schedulers, and physician offices; reviewing and confirming patient information (allergies, home medications, medical history, consent, operative laterality, responsible party); educating patients on what to expect before, during, and after procedures; completing preoperative documentation; maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality; participating in staff meetings and mandatory education; following procedures for exposure tasks and hazardous waste. Requires strong communication, organization, and ability to operate in a remote home-based setting using secure telehealth/EMR tools; in Kansas with Manhattan-based location. Remote work policy compliance and HIPAA considerations emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Kansas
- Current CPR certification
- ACLS certification required if performing direct patient care
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Six months to one year of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
