Job Summary
Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of railcars to verify they are in proper working order before dispatch. Inspect lading equipment, safety appliances, interior conditions, clean debris, and replace defective tiedown equipment or lubrication as needed. Identify and report any safety concerns, defects, or maintenance needs while ensuring components meet regulatory standards. Verify inspection and repair records are accurate and submit them promptly. Communicate with the maintenance team to address identified issues and report discrepancies to the Location Supervisor. Maintain a clean work environment and participate in safety briefings. Requires a valid driver's license, high school diploma, and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English fluently and professionally
- Must meet all physical requirements
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to differentiate common railroad signaling colors (red, green, yellow, and blue)
- Must be able to hear clearly and accurately
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb, and lift up to 75 lbs
- Constant need to be on feet
- Constant need to verbally communicate with staff, partners, and vendors
- Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to practical situations
- Ability to follow standardized procedures
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in railcar inspection, maintenance, or a related field
- Driver's License (Preferred)
