Job Summary
Pre-Trip railcar inspections to ensure safety and optimal condition for transportation. Inspect lading equipment, safety appliances, interior condition, remove debris, replace defective tiedown equipment, lubrication, and assist others as needed. Identify and report safety concerns, defects, or maintenance needs; verify components meet safety standards and regulatory requirements; ensure inspection and repair records are accurate and promptly submitted. Communicate with the maintenance team to address issues; maintain a clean, organized work environment following safety guidelines; report discrepancies to the Location Supervisor; participate in safety briefings and training to stay current on industry standards and practices; ensure inspection tools and equipment are in good working condition. Working outdoors 80%–100% of the time with potential exposure to paints, lubricants, dust, and loud noises; requires constant observation of surroundings, and the ability to read signaling colors.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in railcar inspection, maintenance, or a related field preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English fluently and professionally
