Pre & Post Operative RN / LPN - Night Shift

Pre- and Post-Operative nursing for surgical patients. Conduct pre-operative assessments (medical history, medications, allergies, vitals), verify consent, educate patients and families about procedures and recovery, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to optimize preparation. In PACU, monitor anesthesia emergence, assess respiratory status, pain, surgical site, and vitals; administer medications including post-anesthesia drugs; recognize and respond to complications. Provide emotional support, document assessments and interventions in the electronic health record, and ensure continuity of care through effective communication with the interdisciplinary team. Maintain a safe, infection-controlled environment, participate in shift hand-offs and staff meetings, and mentor newer staff or students. Requires active RN or LPN licensure in Louisiana or a compact license, with ADN required and BSN preferred, and current BLS (and ACLS either current or to be obtained within 3 months). Shift is Night Shift (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, 12-hour) with weekend/holiday rotation; Metairie, LA location.
