Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse

Job Summary
Verify patient identity, allergies, and consents; complete preoperative assessments, documentation, and preparation including IV access and medication administration. Transport patients to the OR after confirming surgical readiness and completing standardized handoffs. Monitor airway, breathing, circulation, and neurological status continuously in the PACU; assess pain, nausea, and surgical sites; administer analgesics and emergency interventions as needed. Evaluate patients against discharge criteria, provide postoperative education, and document all care in the EMR. Ensure compliance with safety standards and collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers to deliver safe recovery.
Required Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
- Knowledge of perioperative nursing standards, sterile technique, and post-anesthesia recovery care
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR)
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of preoperative, PACU, or critical care experience preferred
- Previous Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience
- Experience with outpatient orthopedic, spine, pain management, or interventional procedures
- Experience with moderate sedation recovery and fluoroscopic procedures
