Job Summary

Provide hands-on clinical support in a fast-paced teaching hospital environment as a Pre-Licensed Veterinary Technician (Pre-LVT). Assist with patient care activities including physical exams, low-stress handling and restraint, medication administration, and patient transport. Support diagnostic and treatment procedures through laboratory sample collection, processing, and clinical area preparation. Deliver excellent client service by assisting with appointments, consultations, and patient discharges. Maintain organized clinical operations through stocking supplies, sanitizing workspaces, and completing basic electronic medical record tasks (ezyVet). Rabies pre-exposure prophylaxis vaccination will be paid for by the department. This role emphasizes developing practical veterinary nursing skills while advancing toward licensure. Must be enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program and able to obtain the degree within three years. Requires ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed; onsite in Ithaca, NY; no visa sponsorship. Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Enrollment in AVMA-accredited associates’ degree in veterinary technology (preferred SUNY Delhi, with consideration to Penn Foster)
  • Must successfully obtain Veterinary Technology degree within three years with continuous enrollment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of basic veterinary medicine concepts (vaccinations, laboratory testing, diseases, medical terminology, animal behavior)
  • Ability to learn and use electronic medical record systems (ezyVet)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to receive/apply feedback
  • Ability to stand, kneel, lift, and restrain animals weighing more than 50 pounds
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed under supervision of a veterinarian or Licensed Veterinary Technician
  • Onsite position located in Ithaca, NY (no visa sponsorship)
