Job Summary
Assist in creating and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities that foster self-esteem, social skills, and exploration for typically and atypically developing children. Collaborate with the lead teacher, therapists, and other staff to plan, monitor, and update routines while incorporating individual student goals. Ensure regular parent communication and family involvement, maintain compliance with NC Child Care Regulations and federal guidelines, and participate in professional development training. Support the Exceptional Children Program by following applicable standards and adapting to classroom stress or emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of an AA/AAS degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field
- Must hold a current NC Child Care Credential or equivalent
- Must be physically able to routinely lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to exert up to 40 pounds of force routinely; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations
- Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics of people or things
- Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information
- Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to students
Desired Qualifications
- Preference given to those applicants who have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
