Pre-Doctoral Psychology Intern

Under the clinical supervision of a licensed psychologist, the Psychology Intern evaluates patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders. May conduct psychological testing as appropriate or deemed necessary. Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, and determines the appropriate course of treatment for the patient. Uses multiple treatment modalities to treat patient illness or distress; cannot prescribe medication. Serves as a behavioral health subject matter consultant to primary care and other behavioral health team members. Under appropriate supervision, the intern formulates case conceptualization, diagnostic impressions, and treatment recommendations using information from observations, interviews, records, questionnaires, psychological assessments, and reference materials. Writes comprehensive psychological reports and ensures documentation standards. Provides evaluation results to patient and family with discussion of recommendations. Develops and implements individual, couples, family or group treatment plans using psychotherapy methods. Interacts with patients to assist them in gaining insight, defining goals and planning actions. Assesses progress and evaluates effectiveness of counseling or treatments. Performs essential functions under supervision while working toward completion of the doctoral degree.
