Job Summary
Lead the pre-construction and estimating efforts for commercial landscape projects, overseeing the estimating team (3.5 estimators) and driving bid strategy from bid solicitation to proposal submission. Ensure accuracy and completeness of cost estimates, establish production rates and labor assumptions, maintain cost databases, and collaborate with Business Development and Operations to prioritize profitable opportunities. Provide training and mentorship to the estimating staff, evaluate bid opportunities based on project fit, location, risk, and profitability, and assist in value engineering and cost-saving recommendations. Support pre-bid meetings, site visits, RFIs, and handoff to operations post-award, while monitoring KPIs such as hit rate, margins, and turnaround time. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree (preferred), 8+ years in estimating/pre-construction in commercial landscape construction or related field, leadership experience, and strong communication and software proficiency. Compensation includes base salary in the $130k–$150k range, with incentives and comprehensive benefits. The role is primarily office-based with occasional site visits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred)
- 8+ years of estimating or pre-construction experience in commercial landscape construction or construction industry
- proven experience leading estimating teams or pre-construction efforts
- strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor production rates
- experience with General Contractors and bid-build environments
- strong analytical and problem-solving skills
