Job Summary
Manage pre-award grants and contracts programs by advising faculty PIs on sponsor requirements, preparing complex budgets, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations. Review proposals for IRB, IACUC, and SFI issues while acting as the prime contact between agencies, central offices, and research staff to resolve procedural deviations. Coordinate routine proposals, non-award agreements, and Just-In-Time documentation, then conduct quality assurance reviews to identify process improvements and report metrics. Provide training to faculty and staff, develop policies, and liaise with departments to ensure smooth handoffs at award time. This role supports the Department of Medicine Pre-Award Integrated Resources Team, requiring flexibility during peak submission periods and hybrid remote/on-site work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any field
- At least 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience working in research administration with substantial responsibility for proposal development, including complex budgets and sub-awards
- Experience interacting with faculty and department leadership in a project management context
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence and customer service
Desired Qualifications
- Intermediate knowledge/experience with OMB guidelines, Grants.gov, and eRA Commons
- Experience working with UW operations staff (OSP, SOM RGE, PAFC, GCA) and sponsor program and research staff
- Experience with UW systems including SAGE and Award Portal
- Experience leading teams or projects
