Job Summary
Lead pre-award grant activities for IRB Barcelona's Competitive Funding and International Promotion Department, guiding researchers from local to international funding opportunities through proposal preparation, budget development, and grant agreement formalization. Proactively analyze successful and unsuccessful proposals to identify trends and opportunities for improvement; collaborate with ITS to implement and train AI tools that support proposal drafting and ensure alignment with funder requirements. Contribute to refining AI models and pre-award processes; provide personalized support to ensure compliance with eligibility criteria, budget guidelines, ethics, and other funder requirements; support negotiation and completion of grant agreements and signature processes; guide researchers through regulatory and administrative requirements including ethical clearance and data management; maintain and update department databases related to funding opportunities and awarded projects. Qualifications include a PhD, proven grant-support experience, budgeting expertise, fluency in English and Spanish, knowledge of AI tools, strong communication, legal-language interpretation for grant terms, and proficiency in Google Workspace and MS Office; relocation and visa assistance are available. This is a full-time role based in Barcelona, Spain, with an emphasis on international collaboration and ethical research practices.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in any scientific discipline relevant to the position
- Proven experience supporting researchers in preparing applications for local, national, and international funding programmes
- Expertise in budget preparation for research grant applications
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Spanish
- Working knowledge of AI tools and their application in professional environments
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with researchers, administrators, and national and international funding bodies
- Ability to interpret legal language and negotiate grant agreement terms
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and MS Office
