Job Summary
The School Age Teacher will support YMCA programming by ensuring the health, safety, welfare, and personal growth of youth ages 5-12 (1:18 ratio). Responsibilities include planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating recreational activities daily to foster adventure, enjoyment, and social skill development; adhering to child abuse prevention policies; completing required training; maintaining appropriate boundaries; and complying with mandated reporting requirements. The role requires current First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates, Wisconsin BASE Teacher licensing, willingness to learn state childcare regulations, and a valid driver’s license; background checks must meet state requirements. Must be 18 years old (17 with DPI course) and able to work cooperatively with youth, parents, staff, and community organizations under general supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old but can be 17 with DPI course
- Required to keep First Aid, CPR, and AED Certificate current
- Must meet Wisconsin state licensing qualification as BASE Teacher as minimum certification
- Experience working with children
- Willingness to learn state licensing childcare regulations and procedures for Group Day Care Centers
- Ability to work cooperatively with youth, parents, staff and community organizations
- Ability to work with general supervision
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
- Background check cannot contain offenses restricted by state law
