Job Summary
Practice Tutor role across London and Kent with hybrid attendance, 12-month fixed-term full-time contract. Teaches and develops participants in Readiness to Practice, supports hubs within local authorities, mentors CSWs, and supervises dissertations across Year 2 and Year 3. Responsibilities include developing participants to become outstanding social workers, visiting hubs, delivering online practice seminars, providing detailed feedback, leading progress reviews, mentoring CSWs, supporting hub meetings, and contributing to teaching and learning materials. Requires qualified social work status in England, a Masters in Social Work (or equivalent) with significant leadership/teaching experience, accreditation in HEA or an equivalent teaching qualification, and expertise in systemic practice, motivational interviewing, and parenting interventions. Strong commitment to evidence-informed practice, knowledge of child development, and ability to work both face-to-face and online with diverse participant groups. Open to external secondment arrangements and flexible attendance patterns with possible London office attendance and travel within Kent/Southeast during the initial phase.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified Social Worker in England (including up-to-date registration with Social Work England)
- Masters in Social Work and experience of practice or management in children and families’ social work OR Masters in any field, and significant experience of practice or management of children and families’ social work
- Qualified in systemic family therapy, motivational interviewing or parenting interventions
- Higher Education Authority (HEA) accreditation or relevant teaching qualification
- Strong experience of working in statutory children and families’ social work setting
- Experience of applying systemic and/or other social work models in social work
- In-depth knowledge of child development and parent/carer/giver factors affecting parenting
- Evidence of continual professional development through informal and formal approaches
- Experience of developing the knowledge and skill of others
- Knowledge or experience working with the unit model
