Job Summary
Provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse using the nursing process, maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. Coordinate care with other departments and obtain, maintain a current LPN license, and complete required certifications such as BLS, ACLS, or PALS within department timeframes. Perform duties involving prolonged standing, walking, and lifting or turning patients up to 50 pounds with assistance. This role supports Mercy's collaborative team approach to healthcare innovation and compassion.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
- Current LPN license within the hiring state
- Meeting all State Board of Nursing requirements
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to stand and walk most of the time on duty
- Ability to bend and stoop
- Ability to lift and turn patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 pounds
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
Desired Qualifications
- Comparable education experience
- Successful licensure
- IV Certification within 1 year of hire
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
- S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support)
- Six Assessment & Care Modules
- Other unit-specific certifications as required
