Job Summary

Greet patients and visitors while demonstrating courtesy, service, respect, and privacy. Serve as the central communication source by providing accurate information, directions, and guidance. Perform check-in, registration, scheduling, and verification of demographic and fiscal data. Collect co-payments, obtain referrals, and schedule or reschedule appointments to accommodate patient and provider needs. Monitor practice flow, solve issues related to early or late arrivals, and act as a liaison between patients and staff. Facilitate billing functions, research information requests, and prepare medical records.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Certificate 1 Medical Admin Assistant Cert
  • 1-3 years related work experience
  • Experience with computer systems, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
  • Ability to read, and write in English in order to understand basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and other medical center staff
  • Ability to respond to basic questions
  • Ability to understand spoken English in order to follow basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors
  • Ability to communicate effectively in basic English with patients, families and medical center staff in response to routine questions
  • Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use them in routine situations
  • Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Requirement to be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment

Desired Qualifications

  • 1-3 years experience in a healthcare or service/hospitality environment
