Practical Nursing Instructor

Job Summary

Instruct students in classroom and lab environments, develop lesson plans, and demonstrate clinical procedures per the college curriculum. Organize course syllabi, grade student work, and provide constructive feedback while maintaining accurate progress records and reporting clinical and laboratory hours to the program administrator. Tutor students struggling with specific curriculum areas and offer follow-up via phone or email. Collaborate with the academics team to support student success and attend mandatory faculty meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Must hold a current, valid license as a registered nurse (RN) in Ohio
  • a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution
  • Three years of prior patient care experience
  • At least two years of nursing practice as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • An additional year of patient care experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject area being taught
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to navigate learning management systems (LMS) and other digital education platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated professionalism and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Must be able to Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Must be able to Frequently use hands and fingers to operate office equipment
  • Must be able to Occasionally reach, bend, or lift to move items such as but not limited to files, office supplies, or equipment
  • Must be able to Maintain visual acuity to read and prepare documents
  • It may require occasional travel to a different campus site, off-site work-related locations such as clinicals sites, professional development events, or campus events
  • The hours depend on the academic term and student needs. Typical work hours align with class schedules, including occasional evenings or weekends, to accommodate student availability
  • The standard work week is Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior teaching preparation or experience is preferred (e.g., instructional training, classroom or clinical teaching, or educational coursework)
