Job Summary
Train to be a Probation Officer and earn while you learn through the PQiP programme. The role involves working with offenders in community settings and prisons, supporting education, skills, treatment or counselling to reduce reoffending, with flexible working options including potential remote work. The programme funds your Professional Qualification in Probation and salary during studies. You will complete placements across Probation Delivery Units, undergo pre-employment vetting, and may qualify as a Probation Officer after completing PQiP, with eventual placement based on regional vacancies. The role requires empathy, resilience and the ability to handle offenders with complex needs, and includes involvement with victims and collaboration across criminal justice partners. London weighting applies for those in London workplaces.
Required Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification (or higher) e.g. A Level, Advanced apprenticeship, AS Level, International Baccalaureate Diploma, Level 3 NVQ
- Level 5 Qualification (Diploma in Probation Practice, Diploma in Community Justice, NVQ or higher apprenticeship) or above
- Eligibility checks including enhanced vetting (NPPV2)
- Ability to undergo pre-employment checks including resident verification in the UK for last 3 years
- Full-time 37-hour week
