Job Summary
Develop and implement an athlete-centered coaching philosophy while identifying, modeling, and teaching positive values and behaviors through sports. Monitor environmental conditions, recognize injuries, and provide immediate care, ensuring facility safety and appropriate equipment. Design and implement a training, conditioning, recovery, and nutritional program to facilitate social and emotional growth and leadership opportunities for student athletes. Organize practices to maximize performance and utilize appropriate instructional strategies to enhance learning and game management. Create a positive program relationship with parents, school, and community while demonstrating fiscal responsibility and documenting emergency action plans. Fulfill all legal responsibilities and risk management procedures associated with coaching.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated management, leadership and human relations skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
- Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below
- Must have completed a Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association approved course in the care and prevention of athletic injuries by the end of the first year of coaching
- Must earn Accredited Interscholastic Coach certification from the National Federation of High Schools by the end of the first year of coaching
