Job Summary
Operate power plant steam turbine generators to produce electricity for the hospital. Monitor gauges, valves, and switchgear; oversee boiler room, medical waste autoclave, and electrical distribution; perform maintenance and minor repairs; analyze turbine performance via vibration and lubrication oil analysis; maintain equipment history logs; adjust operations to maintain safe, within-range performance; apply knowledge of steam thermodynamics and generator electricity; requires HS/VO tech training and a licensed Stationary Operating Engineer; 5–7 years of power plant operation experience; night shift assignment at Rhode Island Hospital.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of High School or Vocational School
- Completion of two years training in boiler operations and turbo-generator operations
- Requires Stationary Operating Engineer’s License from the City of Providence
