Job Summary
As a Line Powerline Technician at ATCO Electric in Peace River, AB, you will construct, operate, inspect and maintain overhead power lines, substations and related apparatus, install and maintain street lighting, execute system switching, supervise contracted labor, administer maintenance programs and system inspections, and mentor apprentices. The role emphasizes safety protocols, preventive maintenance, and ongoing professional development, with responsibilities including diagnosing faults, coordinating outages, responding to customer service requests, and participating in community relations. A Journeyperson Powerline Technician Certificate (or eligibility for Red Seal) and high school diploma are required, along with Class 5 license (and ability to obtain Class 1 or 3), and First Aid certification; live line techniques experience is preferred, and on-call standby duties are expected.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Journeyperson Powerline Technician Certificate
- Valid or eligibility for Interprovincial Red Seal
- Demonstrated knowledge of live line techniques using bare hand, sticks, and 25kv rubber glove work (preferred)
- Valid Class 5 vehicle operator’s license, ability to obtain Class 1 or Class 3 Operator’s License
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Previous on-call and troubleshooting experience preferred
