Job Summary
Power Systems Integration Engineer located in Knoxville, TN. Assemble PES hardware including power converters, energy storage systems, PDUs, contactors, protection devices, and thermal subsystems; integrate rack-level and containerized systems with proper cabling, grounding, and labeling. Support MOSA-aligned architectures for modularity; coordinate pre-charge, contactor sequencing, and safe bring-up of high- and low-voltage buses. Develop and execute system-level and component-level test procedures; configure programmable power supplies and battery emulators; instrument systems for voltage, current, power quality, transients, and thermal behavior; conduct FAT, integration testing, fault insertion, and regression testing; troubleshoot hardware, wiring, firmware, and controls issues; perform root-cause analysis and document findings. Create and maintain wiring/one-line diagrams and test reports; support configuration management of hardware, firmware, and test setups; provide feedback to design teams for manufacturability and robustness. Adhere to high-voltage and high-energy electrical safety procedures and support applicable safety standards; operates in lab/industrial environments; travel up to 10% as needed; security clearance to obtain and maintain a secret level is required.
Required Qualifications
- LEVEL 2 - 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field.
- LEVEL 3 - 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.
- LEVEL 4 - 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.
- LEVEL 5 - 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.
- Experience with high‐power electrical systems (10 kW and above).
- AC and DC power systems
- Power converters (rectifiers, inverters, DC‐DC)
- Energy storage systems (batteries, supercapacitors)
- Protection devices (contactors, fuses, breakers)
- Experience with electrical test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, etc.).
- Ability to read and generate schematics, wiring diagrams, and one‐line diagrams.
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance.
