Power Systems Engineer III

Job Summary
Conduct electro-magnetic transient, steady state, and control interaction studies including subsynchronous resonance, harmonic analysis, and insulation coordination. Develop local system EMT models, perform disturbance ride-through tuning, and benchmark PSCAD/PSSE simulations. Execute load flow and short circuit analyses while adhering to IEEE/IEC standards. Provide advisory support to generation, large load, and merchant transmission developers, ensuring timely project completion within quality and budget objectives. Utilize proficiency in PSCAD, EMTP, PSSE, and Digsilent Powerfactory. This role supports EPE's growth strategy within the Energy Resources team, focusing on building a modern, secure, and resilient grid for global clients.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in power system modelling and power system studies
- Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering with power system emphasis
- Proficiency in power system modelling software such as the following or equivalents: PSCAD, EMTP, PSSE, Digsilent Powerfactory, PSSE, ETAP, CYMCAP
- Strong understanding of relevant industry standards such as IEEE/IEC/CICRE
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with control system tuning
- Experience with HVDC system
- Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation
