Power Systems Engineer I

Job Summary
Build steady state and dynamic models for solar, wind, storage, and conventional generation projects while performing model quality tests and benchmarking per ISO requirements. Execute distribution and transmission import/export analyses, generator capability studies, and provide site selection support. Assist in submitting generation and load interconnection applications to various ISOs and guide clients through ERCOT's generator interconnection process. This role supports higher-level engineering by collecting and setting up data for preliminary analysis. Work remotely in Mexico with occasional travel, leveraging transmission planning tools like PSS/E and PowerWorld Simulator to shape the future of the grid.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Electrical Engineering with a power system emphasis
- Proficient utilization of at least one but preferably several of the following transmission planning tools: PSS/E, TARA, ETAP, PSCAD, Aspen One-Liner, and PowerWorld Simulator
- Prior experience with ERCOT's generator interconnection process and/or any of the transmission service providers in Texas
- Proven team player skills with ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Location: This position will be remote Mexico
- Travel: Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less)
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD
- Knowledge of EMT based tools and applications (i.e. EMTP/PSCAD)
- Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation
