Job Summary
Support utility and power substation projects by designing low to medium voltage power distribution, standby/emergency generation, and lighting systems for buildings and substation yards. Manage quality assurance and control efforts while engaging directly with internal and external clients on scoping, budgets, and project updates. Oversee design deliverables from proposal through construction, participate in field surveys and troubleshooting, and train junior staff on best practices. Collaborate across cross-functional teams to produce quality work within client budgets and deadlines. Train alongside the high-voltage power team on physical and relay designs for multiple clients.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering
- EIT required
- BS in Electrical Engineering
- Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards and energy codes
- Strong field survey experience and hands-on troubleshooting
- Electrical power design experience is required (low to medium voltage)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to work independently and in a team environment effectively
- The ability to manage deadlines across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
Desired Qualifications
- PE preferred or the ability to obtain the license within the first year of employment
- Lighting, and/or fire alarm design experience is a plus
- Security and communication design experience is a plus
- Experience using Computer Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD, MicroStation) is a plus
- Building Information Modeling (BIM – Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus
- Experience in Power Studies, such as Short Circuit Study, Coordination Study, and Arc Flash Analysis is preferred
- Proficiency using SKM Power Tools Software or ETAP is a plus
