Power Systems Advisory Engineer

Job Summary
Power Systems Advisory Engineer responsible for serving as a trusted engineering advisor to member electric cooperatives, leading discovery with engineering/operations/leadership stakeholders, communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, and delivering end-to-end engineering studies and planning support for smart grid initiatives. Focus areas include distribution planning, power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protection and coordination, arc-flash, voltage management, power quality), distributed generation/interconnection planning (including screening and mitigation for generators, batteries, and behind-the-meter resources), SCADA/field automation integration, reliability/risk mitigation (SAIDI/SAIFI), feeder improvement concepts, and development of repeatable processes, templates, and service offerings. Strong written and verbal communication, ability to manage multiple member utilities in a remote/shared-services environment, and evident ability to produce defensible technical deliverables; travel up to 30%; minimum education and experience include a B.S. in Engineering, 6+ years in electric utilities, and PE license preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent combination of technical education and relevant experience required
- Six (6) or more years of experience working with electric utilities; experience with electric cooperatives strongly preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with engineering modeling software and Microsoft Office tools
- Proven experience applying engineering expertise in a client-facing, advisory, or shared-services context
