Job Summary

Monitor system performance and coordinate maintenance activities for transmission and generation assets to ensure grid reliability. Develop maintenance strategies, participate in load forecasting and contingency analysis, and analyze system data to support decision-making and regulatory compliance with NERC, NPCC, and Ontario standards. Collaborate with real-time operations, market participants, and planning teams to align activities while supporting outage coordination and restoration processes. Utilize specialized software tools for system monitoring, modeling, and analysis. This role supports the Independent Electricity System Operator in managing Ontario's electricity system, balancing supply and demand in real time while integrating renewable energy and emerging technologies into the grid.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 4–10 years of relevant experience in power system operations, maintenance, planning, or system studies
  • Experience working in a utility, system operator, or transmission organization (e.g., IESO, Hydro One)
  • Strong understanding of power system operations, grid reliability, and maintenance best practices
  • Familiarity with transmission and distribution infrastructure, asset management, and outage planning
  • Experience with power system analysis tools (e.g., PSS/E, EMS tools, SCADA, PI Historian)
  • Knowledge of NERC, NPCC, and Ontario-specific reliability standards and codes
  • Experience with outage coordination, contingency planning, or real-time support
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in grid modernization or renewable integration
