Power System Engineer

Job Summary
Power System Engineer responsible for analyzing the impact of renewable generation on utility distribution systems via Connection Impact Assessments, performing CYMDIST-based power flow and short-circuit studies, modelling station and distribution systems, preparing estimates and schedules, generating final reports on system reliability and quality, performing grounding studies and protection coordination, and supporting bids and client queries. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of distribution planning experience; experience with CYMDIST and other power-system tools; telework policy with hybrid arrangement in Mississauga, Ontario; benefits include retirement, insurance, telemedicine, and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant experience in distribution planning and analysis
- Experience with generator connection impact assessment and power system analyses (load flow, fault analysis, short circuit, etc.)
- Experience with distribution planning, DER interconnection, arc flash, microgrid analysis, protection coordination
- Experience with CYMDIST, ETAP, PSS/E, EMTP, ASPEN, Siemen’s CAPE, PSCAD (optional)
- Knowledge of distribution protection, settings and logic diagrams
- Strong written, interpersonal and presentation communication skills
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license is an asset
