Power System Analyst
On-siteMontréal, Quebec, Canada
Job Summary
Develop accurate simulation models of power systems and power electronics using tools such as PSCAD, EMTP, and Hypersim. Implement and validate these models to assess system performance under various scenarios, then perform detailed analysis of electromagnetic transient simulation results to provide insights into grid stability, fault response, and dynamic behavior. Collaborate with the research and development team to investigate emerging technologies and assist in preparing technical reports based on simulation findings. This 12-month contract role is with Huawei Canada's Smart Grid Technology Lab, which focuses on real-time simulation technologies and microgrid energy management. Proficiency in English is essential for communicating with colleagues outside Quebec, while the lab aims to support a French-speaking work environment for employees in Quebec.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a focus of Real-Time Simulation
- Strong experience in using EMT software (e.g., PSCAD, EMTP, Power Factory)
- Strong experience in using real-time simulation platforms (e.g., RTDS, OPAL-RT, Typhoon HIL)
- Strong experience in using other simulation software (e.g., Simulink, PLECS) for power system/power electronics modeling and analysis
- Knowledge of power systems and power electronics modeling and analysis, including generation, transmission, and distribution systems
- Proficiency in English
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and real-time control systems
