Job Summary
Power Design Engineer role involving full life-cycle product development for architectures including RF EW, IRCM, and imaging systems. Responsibilities include designing high-efficiency switch-mode power supply architectures, subsystem/COTS circuit designs, regulatory compliance (MIL-STD-704/461/464, DO-160, TEMPEST), and collaborating with system/hardware engineers to meet requirements. Tasks cover requirements definition, topology architecting, PCB layouts, verification via SPICE simulations and lab tests, formal qualification to environmental and EMI/EMC standards, and maintaining design documentation and configuration management throughout the product life cycle. Preferred/required experience with Cadence/LTSPICE, high-frequency magnetics, and DOORS/ClearCase/ClearQuest. US Citizenship and DoD Secret clearance prior to start. On-site role at Rolling Meadows, IL; travel ~10%.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar engineering discipline with a minimum 2 years of power electronics design experience or a master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar engineering discipline.
- Switch Mode Power Supply circuit design experience, including schematic capture through test and integration.
- Hands-on prototyping and debug experience testing complex power systems, including various switch-mode topologies and linear regulators.
- Ability to translate system performance and operational specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects with 2 or more team members.
- Familiarity with DOORS, ClearCase and ClearQuest documentation/revision control.
