Job Summary
Define, develop, source, and qualify OEM power supplies to meet product and market requirements as part of the project team. Spend time hands-on in the lab characterizing new power supplies and design dual grid and redundant AC or DC power systems. Apply analog and power circuit design knowledge to system qualification, then write clear technical reports communicating issues to power teams, software engineers, and non-technical stakeholders. Monitor OEM vendor performance and collaborate with vendor engineering teams abroad to lead projects from concept through production. Work closely with mechanical and compliance teams to ensure systems meet national and international regulatory standards, while consulting system engineers on best testing practices. Participate in defining next-generation systems and propose improvements to existing designs. Travel internationally as required.
Required Qualifications
- MS in Electrical Engineering
- minimum of 10 years' experience
- Experience with regulatory processes for designing and certifying power supplies in commercial electronics
- Excellent knowledge of AC-DC & DC-DC design issues
- system-level power distribution
- industry best practices
- Experience sourcing power supplies ranging from 100 Watts to 3000 Watts
- supporting both AC and DC input power
- Understanding of design challenges in large modular systems delivering total power up to ~30 kW
- Familiarity with 54V to 12V IBC 1–3 kW converter bricks
- PCB power distribution layouts using such modules
- Excellent communication skills regarding requirements, critical path, and schedules
- Travel internationally as required
