Power Plant Technician/Control Room Operator

Job Summary
Monitor and operate all power plant systems from the field on a continuous basis, responding to alarms with appropriate corrective actions and executing plant shutdown, start-up, and maintenance procedures. Perform operational activities for equipment support, complete electrical switching and tagging per lockout procedures, and conduct routine cycle chemistry testing to maintain established operating parameters. Report equipment anomalies to management, maintain operating logs and environmental records, and utilize the CMMS to track maintenance requests. Comply with site safety requirements, participate in housekeeping, and read computer-generated data and instrumentation gauges. This role supports the Blackstone facility's generating requirements under a continuous on-call rotation, with pay ranging from $40 to $60 per hour based on experience. Candidates must pass the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program exams.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of related experience
- Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrate effective oral and verbal communications skills
- Must be able to read and respond to computer-generated data, instrumentation, gauges, readouts and variations in color
- Must be able to perform additional duties as assigned by plant management
- If applicable, candidate will hold the required level of state license as recognized by the governing body of that particular state (MA, OH)
Desired Qualifications
- Commonwealth of Massachusetts 2nd Class Engineer's License preferred
