Job Summary

Perform routine and emergency mechanical maintenance and repair on plant equipment with minimum supervision, including weekends, holidays, and alternative scheduled shifts. Troubleshoot and diagnose problems in systems by reading drawings, P&IDs, and vendor manuals to evaluate, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, compressors, fans, turbines, and boilers. Participate in major maintenance projects including equipment overhauls, removal and replacement of major units, and third-party contractor inspections. Execute simple torch cutting, welding, rigging, crane/hoist operations, and machine shop tasks like lathe and milling. Comply with safety and environmental regulations while climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, and working at elevations up to 80 feet. Requires a valid CA driver's license, forklift/manlift operation, and proficiency with power tools.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Trade school or trade school program in Mechanical Maintenance
  • Valid CA driver's license
  • Minimum of five years' maintenance experience in power generation facilities or similar industrial facilities and field
  • Must possess basic math skills
  • Good verbal communications skills
  • Proficient with the use of power and precision tools
  • Knowledge of Safety and Environment rules as they relate to mechanical maintenance
  • Good organizational skills
  • Must be able to frequently climb ladders
  • Must be able to enter confined spaces
  • Must be able to climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, scaffolding and walkways at elevations of 80 feet and more
  • Must be able to wear a respirator
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Able to work weekend and holidays as needed
  • Must be able to drive a forklift, gradall and/or manlift
  • Successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program

Desired Qualifications

  • Additional professional training
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
  • Working knowledge of Work Management Programs
  • Familiarity with Maximo
