Job Summary
Power Plant Operator responsible for the safe operation of the village power plant in Bethel, Alaska, including housekeeping, plant checks, log reporting, system inspections and maintenance. Duties include reading meters as directed, maintaining logs, conducting and verifying inventory levels, and upkeep of batteries, bus voltage, radiators, fire suppression system, engines and other equipment located at the plant facility. Starts at $22.76 per hour with a comprehensive benefits package (pension, 401K with employer match, generous leave, health/vision/dental, disability and life insurance). Required Qualifications
- Power Plant Operator experience or equivalent
- ability to operate and monitor diesel, wind, and solar generation equipment
- ability to perform housekeeping, plant checks, log reporting, system inspections and maintenance
- ability to read meters and maintain logs
- inventory maintenance skills
- knowledge of batteries, bus voltage, radiators, fire suppression system, engines and related plant equipment
- commitment to safety and reliable operation in a village power plant environment
- ability to work with minimum supervision
