Job Summary
Power Mechanic Level A responsible for repairs and preventive maintenance of diesel engines, trucks and/or forklifts. Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and perform maintenance on equipment; interpret work orders and technical manuals; repair or replace defective parts; test repaired equipment for proper performance; ensure work meets manufacturer specifications and legislated regulations; perform safety inspections and prepare safety documents as required by FMCSA and other regulations; adapt to changing technology; work in a high-volume environment and in various weather conditions; capable of lifting 70 lbs; CDL may be required for driving duties; candidate must be able to work any shift and collaborate with others or work independently.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent background
- Minimum of one-year experience and/or completion of trade school or equivalent
- Must be able to use hand tools and test equipment
- Must have own tools
- Must know general repairs and PM criteria
- Should have specific knowledge of heavy truck repairs in a commercial environment, including diesel engine system diagnostics
- Must possess the ability to keep up with changing technology and updates
- Mechanical ability and interest in engines, electronics and precision equipment
- Must possess strength and stamina to work with heavy equipment and in awkward positions
- Physical ability to lift approximately 70 lbs
- A valid CDL and acceptable MVR required if driving on public roads
- If a CDL holder, must be registered with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
- Self-starting and organized
- Strong work ethic and problem solving skills
- Willingness to work any shift, including nights and weekends
- Able to interact well with others
- Able to work independently or in a team
- Capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and background check
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
