Job Summary
Power Mechanic Level A responsible for repairs and preventive maintenance of diesel engines, trucks and/or forklifts. Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and perform maintenance; conduct safety inspections and prepare safety documents per FMCSA and applicable regulations; interpret work orders and manuals; repair or replace defective parts or systems; test repaired equipment to ensure performance meets specifications and regulations. Requires use of hand tools and test equipment, ability to lift heavy loads, and authorization to work in the United States. May require CDL and compliance with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse; must be able to work nights/weekends and in varied weather. Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- minimum of one-year experience and/or completion of trade school
- Must be able to use hand tools and test equipment
- Must have own tools
- Must know general repairs and PM criteria
- Specific knowledge of heavy truck repairs in a commercial environment, including diesel engine system diagnostics
- Must possess the ability to keep up with changing technology and updates
- Possess mechanical ability and interest in engines, electronics and precision equipment
- Must possess strength and stamina to work with heavy equipment and in awkward positions
- Physical abilities including walking, lifting, twisting, climbing, etc.
- A valid CDL and acceptable MVR if driving on public roads
- CDL holder must be registered with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
- Must be self-starting and organized
- Must be willing to work any shift, including nights and weekends in any weather condition
- Must be able to lift approximately 70 lbs
- Must be able to comply with company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
- Must be able to interact well with others
- Must be able to work independently or in a team setting
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background checks
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
