Job Summary
Construct, install, inspect, and maintain overhead and underground power distribution systems while operating specialized equipment such as bucket trucks, trenchers, and trackhoes. Troubleshoot and repair distribution lines, transport installation materials, and interpret construction drawings and schematics. Track daily production, manage logistics, and coordinate with crews while strictly adhering to OH&S standards. Support junior workers and apprentices on proper work practices. This outdoor role requires working at heights, lifting heavy materials, and enduring extreme weather conditions, including potential overtime, weekends, and 10-12 hour shifts. Extensive travel across Saskatchewan is required. Ledcor builds and maintains infrastructure for oil and gas, mining, and transportation industries.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman Powerline Technician certification or enrollment/interest in a lineman apprenticeship program
- 1–3 years of experience in powerline construction (or strong interest with technical training)
- Ability to climb poles using spikes and rigging and to work from bucket trucks or man-lifts
- Strong knowledge of distribution powerline construction methods, tools, and safety procedures
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
- Class 5 driver's license required
- Class 1 or 3 preferred
- Able and willing to provide an acceptable five (5) year Driver's Abstract
- Physically able to work at heights, lift heavy materials, and work in varying weather conditions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to travel extensively across Saskatchewan
