Job Summary
Power Line Technician role for AFIMAC Canada on a temporary contract in Eastern Canada. Responsibilities include constructing, maintaining, and operating electrical overhead and underground sub-transmission and distribution systems; installing, testing, commissioning, maintaining and de-commissioning medium/high voltage equipment; performing live-line work; responding to emergency system conditions; troubleshooting and repair to restore power; electrical grounding and switching tasks; tree clearing from power lines; collaborating with other departments to ensure safe and efficient operations; adhering to safety, housekeeping, and environmental standards. Must be able to work extended shifts up to 16 hours, up to 7 days per week, with travel and on-site accommodations as required. Requires high school diploma or equivalent; 434A certification preferred; AZ or Class 3 license with Condition 15; minimum 1 year PLT experience; strong troubleshooting skills; ability to work independently in fast-paced environment; English proficiency; Canadian work eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 434A Certification (preferred)
- Valid AZ license or Class 3 license with Condition 15
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Power Line Technician (PLT)
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable with a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter with ability to work with limited supervision
- Ability to work up to 16 hour days or 12-hour shifts 7 days per week
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, and/or drive for extended periods
- Ability to work day or night shifts
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to read, write and speak English effectively
- Canadian resident and/or legally allowed to work within Canada
