Job Summary
Monitor boiler fires, maintaining proper pressure, temperatures, and water levels while assisting with fuel changeovers. Operate high-pressure gas and oil boilers, perform minor repairs, and treat water for feed and condensate systems. Monitor HVAC computers for environmental conditioning, adjust controls for temperature and humidity, and service water softeners. Operate diesel-driven electrical emergency generators and centrifugal chillers for campus cooling. Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, cooling towers, and laundry equipment. Respond to routine, urgent, and emergency service calls throughout the campus, advising supervisors of any urgent situations. Maintain all logs, state records, and service records while keeping plant facilities clean and orderly. Adhere to all policies and federal/state laws regarding privacy.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Three to six months related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Desired Qualifications
- Some experience or knowledge of assisting in the operation and maintenance or repair of mechanical or electrical equipment used for providing heat, ventilation, power, refrigeration or air conditioning
- Some experience or knowledge of the repair of electrical, gasoline, or diesel-powered equipment
