Job Summary
Power Engineering Technologist III responsible for providing a high level of technical expertise to analyze complex options and prepare complex power distribution facility designs for residential, commercial, industrial projects and large project work related to the reliability of the distribution grid. Collaborates with clients on design and workflow processes, coordinates with construction personnel to resolve jobsite issues, develops site and construction drawings, and leads or mentors other staff while ensuring safety and reliability across projects. Requires interpretation of codes, standards and regulations, and the ability to create cost-effective, high-quality designs for varied geographic areas; performs field work as needed and supports storm restoration activities. Strong teamwork, communication, and proficiency in design tools and Microsoft Office are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Regular attendance is required
- Education: High school degree or GED
- Preferred: Associates degree (AA or equivalent) from two-year college or technical school; Depending on client project, a 4-year degree may be required
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or University in non-engineering science, math or business
- Experience: 3-5 years experience in utility power distribution engineering or equivalent craft
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, operational procedures, etc.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle suitable for business use
- Ability to participate in storm restoration activities as a Damage Assessor, Team Lead or Field Supervisor/Manager
