Job Summary
Power Engineer I provides design/engineering support for transmission, distribution, substations, and related infrastructure across utility, industrial, and commercial projects. Responsibilities include data collection and analysis for equipment specifications, design development for electrical/mechanical/structural engineering work, creating and reviewing diagrams (single line, three line, wiring), grounding and lightning protection design, environmental and regulatory compliance research, and generating concise project documentation. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering, Engineer in Training eligibility or PE candidate, and 0-3 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with IEEE, NEC, NERC, IFR/IRC design processes, and software tools like PLS-CAD/ETAP is expected. Travel may be project-dependent; salary expected between $63k-$75k with a competitive benefits package.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical
- Engineer in Training Certification or eligible for PE licensing
- 0 to 3 years of relevant post education
- Excellent research skills with analytical
- General understanding of electrical engineering as applied in design engineering of large capital projects
- Familiarity with relevant environmental and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
- Familiarity with discipline-specific design software like PLS-CAD, ETAP
