HybridCollingwood, Victoria, Australia or North Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia

Full TimeStartup

Job Summary

Act as an influential subject matter expert on power distribution systems, leading technical workshops, proof-of-concepts, and tender responses for distribution network service providers. Drive pre-sales engagement by positioning Gridsight's AI-driven platform for grid modernization, flexibility markets, and dynamic operating envelopes. Lead end-to-end technical onboarding, collaborate with Product to prototype MVP solutions, and represent the company at industry forums to shape grid digitalization strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field
  • At least 5 - 10 years of experience in power systems engineering, distribution planning, or a related field within utilities or energy technology
  • Demonstrated success in project management within the utilities or energy
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and a self-starter mentality, comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Effective project management skills, with a track record of coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring on-time, high-quality deliverables
  • You've worked inside a network or close enough to one that you have lived experience - and know what matters to the humans within them
  • You've seen this journey from the customer's perspective - data-led grid visibility, LV/MV operation, planning, DER integration, flexibility and connections - and you can hold your own in a room with a network planner who's been doing it for twenty years
  • You can sell without being a salesperson
  • You're the person whose technical clarity and intellectual honesty unlocks a deal, because you seek to understand and build trust, not pitch
  • You own outcomes, not recommendations
  • You're energised by doing the work that brings the outcome to life
  • You translate in both directions
  • Low ego, high ownership, relentless curiosity, bias for impact
  • Genuinely drawn to the mission
  • You want the networks you work with to be the reason the energy transition lands faster

Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with advanced power system modeling tools (e.g. PowerFactory, CYME, PSS/E) and cloud-based SaaS technologies (AWS, Azure)
  • Strong expertise in distribution system planning or DER integration with system integration, APIs, data management, and scripting languages (e.g. Python, SQL) for data processing
  • Understanding of regulations and emerging trends in energy markets
  • Exposure and execution of (DSO) flexibility programs and capabilities
  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in power systems
