Power Analyst – Data Scientist

Job Summary
Develop time-series forecasting models to convert European power system fundamentals into numerical price forecasts for traders. Refine existing meteo-to-power models for wind and solar, continuously adding features as renewables integrate, and ensure error-free delivery. Collect market intelligence, liaise with Data teams on feed quality, run and automate forecast models, and maintain dashboards. Provide proactive modelling advice to analysts and stakeholders while helping with the day-to-day running of the team. This role sits within the Energy Market Analysis department at EDF Trading, supporting the group's leadership in low-carbon electricity generation and risk management across global markets.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced graduate qualification (PhD or postdoctorate) in Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics or Maths
- Strong Python coding experience/knowledge
- Knowledge of git and CI/CD practices
- Demonstrable proficiency with packages such as Pandas, Sklearn; Pytorch or Keras
- Knowledge of SQL and Excel
- A couple years experience with building production-grade models (MLOps)
- Excellent analytical skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Team-player mindset: collaborates well with others and is comfortable communicating with senior stakeholders on technical and project delivery details
- Willingness to learn and incorporate the often very technical features of power fundamentals
