Job Summary
Oversee and manage the breeding, raising, and general care of poultry for egg and meat production, implementing feeding, watering, and nutrition programs to maintain flock health. Monitor bird welfare, behavior, and environmental conditions while managing biosecurity risks, farm hygiene, and infrastructure including sheds, pens, and irrigation systems. Plan daily operations for collection, grading, packing, medication programs, and equipment sterilization, then organize the movement, sale, and purchase of birds and produce. Maintain accurate production records, analyze data to forecast costs and plan activities, and supervise farm workers and contractors. Requires a Certificate in Agriculture or equivalent with at least three years of hands-on poultry farming experience. Full-time permanent role based in East Bendigo, VIC.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years experience in poultry or livestock farming, including hands-on work with breeding, animal husbandry, feeding programs, and farm infrastructure maintenance
- Certificate/Degree in Agriculture, Poultry Production or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of poultry husbandry, animal welfare, nutrition and biosecurity principles
- Competence in operating farm machinery, equipment and automated systems
- Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to supervise staff and coordinate farm operations effectively
- Knowledge of farm safety requirements and compliance standards
