Job Summary
Lead clinical assessments and deliver group programmes within the Alcohol and Other Drug Service teams at Waikeria Prison. Apply mātauranga Māori in programme delivery while managing a highly challenging environment. Maintain a mature, level-headed disposition and demonstrate leadership experience in mental health and addictions. This role requires a qualified, registered Health Professional with at least five years in the field. Applications close Sunday, 8 August 2026, contingent on prison security clearance approval.
Required Qualifications

- A relevant qualification and registration that meets the requirements of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act
- A minimum of five years working in the mental health/addictions field
- Demonstrable leadership experience
- Confidence using mātauranga Māori in programme delivery
- Employment contingent on the prison approving your security clearance
- Your criminal background will be reviewed as part of the vetting process
- Drug testing
