Job Summary

Conduct detailed human neuropathologic analysis via immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence of tau, a-synuclein, TDP-43, and amyloid-beta in neurodegenerative disease and control cohorts. Integrate neuropathology with tau RT-QuIC seed amplification assays and perform biochemical and molecular profiling of human brain tissue. Generate and analyze multiomic datasets including transcriptomic, metabolomic, and lipidomic data to define the distribution and features of pathogenic tau seeds across aging and disease states. Prepare manuscripts, figures, and presentations for publication and dissemination. This NIH-funded project, a collaboration between Dr. Hiniker's USC lab and Dr. Kraus's Case Western Reserve lab, focuses on protein aggregation mechanisms in neurodegenerative diseases.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, molecular biology, biochemistry, pathology, or a related discipline
  • PhD or equivalent doctorate acquired within the previous 4 years

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong publication record
  • Experience with neurodegenerative disease research
  • Experience with transcriptomic, metabolomic, lipidomic, or related molecular datasets
