Job Summary
Postdoctoral Research Fellow role focused on Neurodegeneration Research at Macquarie University. The successful candidate(s) will contribute to internationally collaborative projects investigating mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s disease and related proteinopathies, using human postmortem brain tissues, mouse models, histology, multiplex immunolabelling, fluorescence imaging, digital pathology, RNA biology, and advanced imaging techniques. Responsibilities include experimental design, laboratory-based investigations, data analysis, and dissemination of findings through publications and presentations, with collaboration across internal and international partners. The role involves compliance with laboratory safety and vaccination requirements and requires a PhD in a related biomedical field, strong practical neuroscience/biomedical expertise, and ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with a focus on translational neuroscience.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in neuroscience, biomedical science, molecular biology, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in laboratory-based biomedical or neuroscience research
- Experience with histology, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence imaging, or molecular laboratory techniques
- Demonstrated ability to analyse, interpret, and communicate experimental findings
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in experimental procedures and data management
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment
