Job Summary
Conduct research within the Industrial Training Centre for Smart and Sustainable Horticulture to develop and refine phenotyping methods for selecting elite germplasm and translating findings into practical grower guidelines. Integrate plant phenotyping platforms to monitor growth, yield, and disease resilience while performing physiological and biochemical screening to validate technologies. Work with interdisciplinary, multi-institutional teams to publish in peer-reviewed journals, prepare reports, and contribute to research grant development. Deliver original outcomes supporting crop adaptation to protected settings through hands-on analysis of photosynthesis, chlorophyll fluorescence, and gene expression.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in plant biology
- equivalent experience to PhD in plant biology
- expertise in photosynthesis
- expertise in phenotyping
- expertise in horticultural crop biochemistry
- hands-on experience measuring and analysing photosynthesis
- experience with gas exchange
- experience with chlorophyll fluorescence
- experience with hyperspectral reflectance
- capability in plant phenotyping platforms
