Job Summary
Postdoctoral Research Fellow to develop and apply process-based biogeochemical models (e.g., LPJ-GUESS) to predict ecosystem responses to climate change across Australian forests. Responsibilities include improving model representations, designing and running mechanistic model experiments, processing and analyzing diverse datasets, mentoring HDR students, delivering manuscripts and presentations, contributing to grant development, and ensuring research data management in line with policies and ARC requirements. The role is based at Hawkesbury Campus with a fixed-term of 3 years and offers visa sponsorship as needed.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in terrestrial ecology, biogeochemistry, environmental science or a related field
- experience developing and applying process-based biophysical models
- experience with LPJ-GUESS or similar models
- strong programming skills (C, C++ and/or Python)
- experience working with scientific datasets (field, satellite, model outputs)
- first-author publications in high-quality journals
- HPC/Linux environments familiarity or willingness to develop
