Job Summary
Conduct high-quality research on biological nitrogen fixation and nitrogen acquisition in saline- and alkaline-tolerant plant species using molecular, physiological, and ecological approaches across laboratory, glasshouse, and field settings. Design and deliver experiments applying stable isotope techniques, omics-based methodologies, and quantitative modelling to understand nitrogen cycling in engineered landforms. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, present at conferences, contribute to grant applications, and supervise postgraduate students. Manage project reporting, engage with industry partners, and foster a collaborative research culture within the Sustainable Minerals Institute.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a PhD in plant sciences or a closely related discipline
- You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment

Desired Qualifications
- Expertise in the physiology and ecology of biological nitrogen fixation
- Demonstrated knowledge of plant physiology, soil-plant-microbe interactions, and nitrogen cycling processes in terrestrial ecosystems
- Proven expertise in plant physiology and plant-microbe interactions, including experience with molecular, genomic, transcriptomic and/or other omics-based approaches
- Experience with stable isotope techniques, biogeochemical modelling, disturbed land rehabilitation research, industry collaboration, student supervision, or ecosystem nutrient cycling studies
