Postdoctoral Research Associate - Physics
On-site · St. Louis, Missouri, United States
Job Summary
Postdoctoral Research Associate in Physics to join WashU's Department of Physics (St. Louis) in the Astrophysics, Particle Astrophysics, and Space Sciences group. The role focuses on developing novel superconducting detectors for particle physics applications, including qubit-based detectors (QPDs/SQUATs) and Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KIDs). Responsibilities span from design to on-site nano-fabrication and device testing in a dilution refrigerator, to data analysis. The postdoc may define additional sub-projects, such as sub-eV energy calibration techniques, and interface with a larger experimental collaboration. Applicants should submit a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal/doctoral degree with a strong background in superconducting devices, cryogenics, and nanofabrication; prior QIS experience is highly encouraged. Salary is commensurate with experience. Applications requested by June 15, 2026. The position is up to 2 years with potential for extension based on performance and funding.
